nevertheless, i believe he's focusing, to the detriment of his ability to be self-aware, on how atemporal works consciously develop "traditional" themes below the details of plot, whether it be VR-action satire or Jane Austen fetish--we are still focused on the same philosophical thrusting we've always been

yes awesome. I read gibson though partly because he is the MOST temporal of writers. some of his sentences read as if he is trying to jam in as many brand names as he can, for instance. it's interesting but not atemporal.
actually, I gotta say, 'plot' has almost completely eluded him recently. i'm not sure even he would say that's a feature of atemporality, as he seems to define it.
